I have been teaching in Vista for 11 years and before that I taught in Yosemite National Park (right under the Yosemite Falls). I received my bachelors degree and teaching credentials at CSU Fresno and earned my masters degree and administrative credentials from Concordia University. I am a life long learner and love staying on the cutting edge of education and technology! During my 12 years with Vista Unified I have worked as lead teacher for all grades, and was part of the Common Core Division, where I worked closely with Stanford's Jo Boaler, learning growth mindset in mathematics along with making math meaningful. I have 3 beautiful daughters ages 12, 15, & 18. We are a very active family that enjoy mountain bike riding, surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking, hiking, skateboarding, and horseback riding. My girls also keep me very busy with their school activities and competitive sports.
I enjoy working with the community and strongly believe that we need to leave this world better than when we entered it. Beach clean ups, networking with large businesses to donate to their surrounding neighborhoods, and volunteering at church are a few ways I feel part of the community.
I take pleasure in learning all about my students favorite things. Here are a few of mine:
